Bret Newport has over 26 years in the fire service. Bret began his fire service career in the West Haven Fire Department as an intern in 1998. During this time, he was enrolled at University of New Haven and studied Fire Science Administration. He is currently a career firefighter in the in the Center Fire District of the City of West Haven (West Haven, CT).

Bret has instructed on multiple state and national venues including Connecticut Fire Academy, MAFFC and F.O.O.L.S. H.O.T. Classes. He has also been an instructor and coordinator with Fire Training Innovations LLC. since its start in 2009.
