Profile: Jaymine Patel-Dowd

With a decade of dedicated service in Emergency Medical Services, I have built a comprehensive career spanning diverse operational environments and educational roles. Currently serving as a Paramedic for Hartford County, I bring extensive field experience gained through work with commercial, volunteer, and municipal agencies throughout my career.

My operational expertise is complemented by significant leadership responsibilities as both a Field Training Officer and preceptor, where I guide and mentor emerging EMTs and Paramedics entering the profession. This hands-on mentorship role reflects my commitment to developing the next generation of EMS professionals.

Beyond field operations, I have established myself as a respected educator with five years of teaching experience. I hold instructor certifications across multiple critical areas: EMS instruction, American Heart Association programs, and POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) instruction. This diverse instructional background allows me to deliver comprehensive, multi-disciplinary training that meets the evolving needs of emergency services personnel.
My educational foundation includes a Bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from the University of Connecticut, along with an Associate’s degree in business from Capital Community College. This combination provides me with both a strong scientific understanding of human physiology and behavior, as well as foundational business knowledge—expertise that proves invaluable in patient care, educational settings, and understanding the operational aspects of emergency services.

What began as a career has evolved into a genuine passion for Emergency Medical Services. This dedication has naturally led me into education, driven by a desire to share knowledge and expertise with those entering this challenging and rewarding field. Through both direct patient care and instruction, I remain committed to advancing the standards of emergency medical care and fostering excellence in EMS professionals at all levels.
